Home/The Waters

The Waters

Five pools, one cliff.

Every pool is fed by seawater drawn from ninety metres offshore, filtered and warmed but never chemically treated. What you swim in was in the Tyrrhenian this morning.

Warm thalasso pool

Thalasso Pool · 36°

Body-temperature seawater with underwater jets set at shoulder, lumbar and calf height. Start here; almost every circuit we design begins in this pool.

Cold plunge basin cut into rock

Cold Basin · 13°

Cut directly into the rock and open to the water below. Ninety seconds is plenty, and our attendants will tell you so before you decide otherwise.

Salt steam grotto

Salt Steam Grotto

Natural sea-salt steam at 45° under a vaulted stone ceiling. The best twenty minutes in the building for anybody arriving with a cold.

Infinity pool at sunset

Horizon Infinity · 32°

The one in every photograph, and genuinely worth the photograph. Open until sunset, with quiet hours from 17:00 when conversation stops.

Tidal cove

The Tidal Cove

Untreated open sea, reached by ninety-four steps down the cliff. Attended between 10:00 and 17:00 and closed whenever the swell says so.

The spa terrace above the sea

The circuit

In this order, three times.

Thalasso first, at 36°, for fifteen minutes. Then the grotto until the first proper sweat. Then the cold basin, ninety seconds, breathing through the nose. Then twenty minutes flat on the warm stone of the upper terrace.

That last part is the one everybody skips and the one that actually does the work. If you only have two hours, spend forty minutes of it lying down.

The sea does half of it. The resting does most of the rest.

Guided circuits

Run at 10:00 and 15:00 daily, free with any package, eight guests at a time. An attendant calls the timings and coaches the breathing, which makes a surprising difference in the cold.

Practical

Using the waters.

🩱

Swimwear only

Robes, towels, sandals, lockers and unscented amenities are all provided. Bring a swimsuit and nothing else.

🚿

Rinse first

Showers at every entrance to the pool deck. Sun cream and seawater do not mix well with a filtration system.

🤫

Quiet from 17:00

The infinity pool goes silent for sunset. Conversation moves to the lower terrace, where the bar is anyway.

💧

Two glasses per cycle

Water and iced hibiscus at both ends of the deck. Thalassotherapy dehydrates faster than people expect.

🫀

Tell us about your heart

Contrast bathing loads the cardiovascular system. Our attendants will design a warm-only circuit without any fuss.

👶

Adults, mostly

Over-16s across the waters. Under-16s are welcome in the tidal cove between 11:00 and 13:00 with an adult.

Good to know

Before you get in.

Filtered and UV-sterilised, warmed where stated, but never chlorinated. It is drawn from ninety metres offshore at fifteen metres depth and cycled continuously — the full volume of every pool turns over roughly every four hours.

Ninety-four of them, and they are steep. There is a small funicular for guests who need it, running on request from the lower terrace — just ask any attendant.

Not remotely. Around a third of guests never use it and get everything they came for from the warm pools and the grotto.

Yes — water-only access is €120 on weekdays and €150 at weekends, capped at twenty guests a day so the deck never fills.

The grotto, thalasso pool and infinity pool run in almost anything. The cove closes on a swell, and the cliff cabanas close in high wind — you will be moved indoors and refunded the difference.

Access is included with every ritual.

Book any treatment and the waters are yours for the whole day, before and after.
